Sure Zilker Park has ACL Fest, Auditorium Shores has SXSW and Pease Park has Eyore's Birthday but "City Park" has a beach! And you can check it out with a Bat City Lake Austin boat rental
It may be a little harder to access than Austin's more well known parks that are closer and easier to get to from downtown, but Emma Long Metropolitan Park is well worth the effort. Plus the short and very scenic drive will take you past Ski Shores Cafe, an Austin lakeside institution. If you're hungry, don't hesitate to stop and enjoy the Ski Sores patio as well as their food and beverage menu. If you're arriving via a Lake Austin boat rental pontoon boat, it's just 15 minutes up stream from the Pennybacker Bridge and only 5 minutes past Ski Shores Café.
Emma Long Metropolitan Park is a 1.75 square mile park located on the shores of Lake Austin and offers a variety of activities, including swimming, boating, fishing, overnight camping, hiking, and picnicking.
